4-Patch Charm Quilt

I love buying precuts – especially 5″ squares. I love all the different patterns using precut – but sometimes I just want something easy where I can just sew the squares together.

The precut squares I used are from the Carnaby Collection by Liberty Fabrics for Riley Blake Designs. You can use any collection or even scraps!

This pattern lets you sew the 5″ squares together without having to trim or square up. You can make it totally scrappy and random. The sashing adds interest and spacing to accent the fabrics you’ve chosen!

The finished quilt is 73″ x 86″ which makes it the perfect size for a throw quilt. I like to use simpler quilts for “cuddling” – watching movies or taking to sports or the beach.

Here’s the fabric requirements:

120 squares 5” x 5” in a variety of colors  or 15 strips 5” x WOF cut into 120 5″ squares

¼ yard dark blue fabric for Plus Blocks

½ yard red fabric for sashing

2 ½ yards white fabric

1 ¼ yard floral border fabric

¾ yard binding fabric

6 yards quilt backing

The pattern is available in my Etsy shop as a PDF.

I hope you love it!!

  1. I love this, Amanda! I especially like the fabrics. I try to make a Quilt of Valor a year, and I search out disabled women vets in my area as recipients. This would be perfect! I’m having trouble finding a source for charm packs. Any suggestions? I’d love to make this quilt as my next QOV.

  2. I bought this pattern, but I’d like to see other examples folks have made. Where can I find other examples of this quilt?
