Elf on the Shelf & the Legos

This morning we found Richie amidst the Legos.  He looked like he’d been playing there all night long!  The children awoke to find this note and a special Christmas set of Legos from Richie.

DIY Lego Minifigure Storage Shelves Tutorial

Do you have little person living with you that is obsessed with Legos?  I do!!  We love the Lego Minifigures at our house!!!  I wanted to find a way to display and store them.  I think this works well and it has lots of room so we can buy more Legos!!!!
Supplies:
3/4″ wood (pine, MDF, etc.)
Lego building board (available at Lego store or Lego online)
utility knife
paint
Quick Hold E-6000 glue (or similar)
nail gun
Begin by cutting the 3/4″ wood into 1 1/4″ strips.  You can make as long you want.  Mine are 23 3/4″ long because that is what looked best on the wall.
Next cut the Lego board.  Using a utility knife, cut the Lego board every “3 circles”.
Once they are cut, bend them a little bit to break them apart.
Paint the boards.
Glue the Lego strips down.  I used one and a half of the Lego strips on each board.

Once everything is dry, measure the wall for placement.  Using a nail gun, nail the boards into the wall, making sure to hit studs.  Patch the nail holes and touch up the paint where the patches are.

My son made me this “Keith Urban” minifigure.

We just bought our series 11 Lego Minifigures today.  These are mine!  50″s girl and pretzel girl!!

Fun with Richie our Elf on the Shelf Christmas 2014

Life was too hectic to write about our sweet Elf Richie everyday.  I thought you might like to see some highlights of his antics this year.  We will miss you so much, Richie!  We hate to say goodbye to you tonight.  Until next year….

Richie arrived at our home in a sealed Santa’s Workshop Lego set.  We were all so surprised and we didn’t know he was inside for quite a while!elf on the shelf 8

All the children had so much fun putting the Lego set together.  We used the tongs to put Richie on the little tree so he could watch.

Richie & the Kleenex Caper

The children looked all over for Richie this morning!  Finally they looked in the bathroom and there he was in a Christmas Kleenex box!  We thought that was pretty funny.  Then, when my son went to actually use a Kleenex, he was totally surprised!  Richie sewed all the Kleenex together into one big long chain!  That totally caught us off guard!!!  We love our Elf!!!

The day before Richie had to go back to the North Pole (December 24th) Richie was granted extra magic which meant we were able to hold him – but only that day.  This was such a thrill to my little girl – this was the most special day ever.

Checking in with Richie the Elf

Richie our elf has been surprising, delighting, and entertaining our family!  Here are his latest antics:
Sippin’ syrup with Rapunzel, Richie’s latest crush 🙂

Richie tucked in a doll bed (he was reading a book, but Sally took it)
Tied up by those mean Lego guys (this one is all over the internet, maybe that’s where Richie got it from!)

Just chilaxin’ in the freezer….and now wearing a blue scarf!
Crape paper sabotage.  You can’t see Richie in the photo, but he is all tangled up in the red crape paper.
We made Richie some tiny spritz cookies and left him a little cup of milk.
Every night there is a note by Richie from one of the children – it is sooooo cute!  My children wake up early every morning to try and be the first to spot him.  How we love Richie!!
