Fun with Richie our Elf on the Shelf Christmas 2014

Life was too hectic to write about our sweet Elf Richie everyday.  I thought you might like to see some highlights of his antics this year.  We will miss you so much, Richie!  We hate to say goodbye to you tonight.  Until next year….

Richie arrived at our home in a sealed Santa’s Workshop Lego set.  We were all so surprised and we didn’t know he was inside for quite a while!elf on the shelf 8

All the children had so much fun putting the Lego set together.  We used the tongs to put Richie on the little tree so he could watch.

Elf on the Shelf Hide & Seek

This morning we awoke to find Richie our Elf sitting on the flying pig surrounded by Hershey Kiss wrappers and pieces of chocolate.  We also found a note attached saying that he hid Kisses all around the house!
The bottom of the Kisses were all marked with little stickers that say, “Be Good”.  That must be how they make them at the North Pole!

Just can’t get enough of Richie and the flying pig!!!

Elf on the Shelf & the Legos

This morning we found Richie amidst the Legos.  He looked like he’d been playing there all night long!  The children awoke to find this note and a special Christmas set of Legos from Richie.

Elf on the Shelf Outfit

Last night Sally wrote to our elf:
Dear Richie,
I want to be an Elf.
Love, Sally
This is what we found in the morning!!  An elf outfit!

Elf on the Shelf Traffic Jam

We woke up to a line of cars all the way around our house.  Richie, our Elf, was sitting in a Hummer in the traffic jam.

Marbles thought this was so much fun.  Every time he walked by the cars, he would hit a few and knock them out of line.

That Richie!  He keeps us on our toes!!

The day before Richie had to go back to the North Pole (December 24th) Richie was granted extra magic which meant we were able to hold him – but only that day.  This was such a thrill to my little girl – this was the most special day ever.

Welcome Elf on the Shelf

Thanksgiving night we heard a knock at the door.  When the children opened the door they found a mysterious gift on the porch.  They opened it and found it was an ELF!!!  Yes, the Elf on the shelf has arrived at our house!  We carefully unwrapped it, read the book, and gave him a name: Richard but we call him Richie for short.  My 4 year old was so into this.  She couldn’t stop talking about Richie and Santa and looking at him and talking about Christmas and asking so many questions – it was the cutest thing ever.

If you don’t know about the Elf, you can go to the official Elf on the Shelf website HERE.  You can’t touch your elf because he is magical.  Everynight he flies to Santa using his magic and reports on what he’s seen all day.  In the morning the children have to find the Elf as he is always some where new and mischivious.

This morning Richie was found hanging in the Christmas tree holding an empty tube of toilet paper.  The Christmas tree was covered in TP.  Sally thought this was hilarious!! Everyday I hope to post the antics of our silly Elf!!

Bookshelf Re-Styling

I spent some time re-styling my bookshelves.  Its kind of a fun process.  I got out everything around the house I thought might work, put it in a pile and then proceeded with some trial and error.  I am happy with how it turned out!

My friend gave me this little owl and I love him.

I love turquoise Ball jars and vintage hankies.  I could have a room full.

I hung this flower painting to the back of the bookshelf.  I got it at a garage sale for $2.  I bought it for the frame but I decided I kind of like the flowers!

I also got this lamp at a garage sale.  I sewed some ruffles and glued them to the lampshade.
