My First Trip to Lucketts, Virginia

While I was helping my friend in Virginia, she took me to a little place called Lucketts, Virginia.  Oh, my, it is the cutest place ever.  Rolling hills, sheep, old houses….I want to move there!  There are some amazing antique shops there.  The first one we went to was called Lucketts Store.  It’s more like a destination than a shop!!!

They had so many amazing items.  And me, there, having to travel back to California with only a suitcase!  I wanted to fill a trailer and drive it across the country!!

They have a “Design House”  which is an old house completely decorated and amazing and everything is for sale!

Then we went to this cute barn turned antique store called “On A Whim”  I love the pink and black polka dot cow in the front!

One more shop called Rust & Feathers

So much fun!  I love East Coast antique shopping!!!!

My Covert Robin Gift

My Covert Robin gift arrived in the mail.  What a surprise!! Mary from Passionate Perseverance was assigned my name.  Of course I went on to her blog as soon as I found out.  She is a darling gal with so many talents!  She sent me a giant box filled with delicious-ness!!  There was a bag of homemade cookies (already consumed before I took the photo),  some yummy homemade jams, and sauces.  I can wait to try them all!

She sewed me a pair of quilted oven mitts.  I was so touched when she said she had never made them before!  I feel so blessed to be the recipient of this gift.

If that wasn’t enough she hand-wrote some of her family’s favorite recipes in a journal.  Again – lots of thought and time went into this gift.   I am definitely going to try them all.

Thank you so much Mary!  I feel very blessed to get to know you and to receive a little bit of who you are!!

A little Antiquing!

Today my friend and I journeyed to North Hollywood for a bit of antiquing.  We found this fun store called Glass Horizons.

Outside they have all these pretty flowers potted in old bakery bread tins.  This shop has thousands of bread tins.  They are using them for everything!!

They also have mini loaf tins and muffin tins.  They are so much fun.  I purchase one of the bread tins and I am hoping to use it as a shelf.  They are $15 each – not bad.

This shop also has a lot of architectural salvage – windows and doors.  Fun!!

Some of the antique pieces were a bit pricy – but we had fun looking.  I left with a bread pan and a wood crate!

Busy day of Sewing!

My sister-in-law is here and we are sewing up a storm!  We are making baby quilts for gifts.  Yesterday we got 3 tops sewn! Look at my dining room!!!  Two sewing machines and fabric everywhere!

Like my newest Pyrex find?  It makes for the perfect “sewing trash” bin on the table.

This one is my favorite – the pattern is so much fun!

This is the pattern – its from the Fall 2011 issue of Simple Quilts & Sewing.  I don’t like the Halloween version – but I love ours!!

When we get them finished today, I will post more photos!  Now on to pinning and quilting!

From the Library

Look what fun quilt books I found at my city library!  Can’t wait to make a few projects!!

I’m Back and Happy New Year!

I took quite some time off from blogging.  I enjoyed Christmas with my family at home, New Year’s with more family at my sister’s in Arizona, and another week of Winter Break in the San Francisco area with more family!!  It’s been a very restful break and I can’t believe it is over and the children are off to school.  Now I am ready to get back into the swing of things….I think!  How about you?

This is a silly picture of myself at the Hobby Lobby after Christmas sale.  We don’t have one where I live so I went with my sister in Arizona.  It never disappoints!  2 carts full!!

Looking forward to a HAPPY new year 🙂
