Gingham Picnic Quilt Pattern

I love creating new quilt patterns and my favorite quilt is always the one I’m currently working on!

I saw Midsummer Meadow by Riley Blake Designs and I immediately fell in love! I love all the tones of teal and coral! I knew I needed to make a quilt!

The fabric line had such a great variety shades within the collection that I thought it would be fun to design a quilt that had a “gingham” effect.

Just look at how amazing all these fabrics are!!

This quilt pattern is great for confident beginners and up. It’s a fun way to make stars without any of the fuss of cutting triangles or matching points. This is such a cheater version!! Which means you can sew this quilt up super fast!

The quilt measures 62″ x 74″ which is such a great throw size!

You can purchase the PDF pattern in my Etsy shop for instant download.

The quilt is made up of 10″ blocks with sashing. I think this would be the cutest ever Christmas quilt or Halloween quilt!

100% Mufasa approved!

Happy Quilting!

Playful Precut Quilts Blog Tour

The Playful Precut Quilts Blog Tour starts today!! For the next month a team of amazing quilt designers will be putting their spin on one of the quilts from my new book!

I love all the patterns in Playful Precut Quilts! I thought I would kick things off by showing what you can do by combining 2 quilt blocks from the book.

One of my favorite things about Playful Precut Quilts is that you can interchange the blocks because they are all 12″. This gives you so many ways to be creative!

I used the Gingham Patches Block and the Vintage Treasures Star Block to create this festive Christmas quilt.

The fabrics are from A Festive Collection by Liberty Fabrics for Riley Blake Designs. The background fabric is dark gray linen by Riley Blake Designs. I love dark backgrounds!

I love that this combination of blocks requires NO SASHING!!! The star block already has space around it to give the quilt the look of sashing – only without all the fuss! So once the blocks are done you sew them together! You can totally make this in a weekend.

It’s time to get a jump on holiday sewing! I hope you love this quilt 🙂

Make sure to stop stop by each of my friends’ blogs to see what they’ve created! It’s going to be so fun!!!

Scrappy Hearts Quilt

There is something about a dark background that can totally change the look of a quilt. I am super in love with this Scrappy Hearts quilt from my book Playful Precut Quilts.

I love the fun colors combined with the Moda cross weave background fabric. And what I love even more is this quilt is made with 5″ precut squares!! Which also means you can totally turn this into a scrappy quilt!!!

I have it hanging in my hallway with this bench in front of it. Mufasa loves to sit there so I snapped a few photos of him.

He is so good at posing for the camera – he’s a professional what can I say 🙂

Conservatory Quilt

In my book Playful Precut Quilts I designed 12 quilts that each use 12″ blocks. The idea is that you can interchange the block or mix and match the blocks depending on what YOU want to make!

I wrote a pattern for a 4 block quilt and have instructions on how to finish it using this border treatment.

I recently made a new version of this quilt using Conservatory by Riley Blake Designs.

I LOVE how it turned out!

I used the Cozy Farmhouse block to make this quilt. Mufasa totally approves!

Newport Beach Quilt

I designed Newport Beach for my book Playful Precut Quilts. I love Newport Beach and this quilt was inspired by the blue sky, the white boats, the red flags, and blue ocean. It’s my happy place!

I recently received my quilts back from C&T Publishing and I was so excited to snap a few photos of this quilt actually at Newport Beach!

Baby Shark Quilt

Every year we look forward to Shark Week! And every year I sew a new sharkey project!

This year I used a pattern from my Playful Precut Quilts book and made this fun Baby Sark baby quilt!

In my book you can interchange the blocks. I choose to use the Rise & Shine block and I made 4 of them.

Also in the book is a pattern for making a 4 block quilt. (pictured above) It turns out it’s the perfect size for a new baby! I’m giving this quilt to my Nephew and his wife who just had their first baby boy.

Spellbound Quilt

Make sure you pick up a copy of Quilts and More which hits news stands today! My Spellbound Quilt Pattern is in it!

I used Scaredy Cat by Riley Blake Designs for the fabric. The quilt is an alternating block pattern that creates a chain design.

I love that the pattern isn’t just for Halloween, but you could easily make it with Christmas fabrics or red and blue fabrics!

Mufasa loves it too! He’s just mad he’s not in the magazine 🙂

Playful Precut Quilts

Huge news – I mean HUGE news!!! This news is almost 2 years in the making!

I am releasing my very first quilt book with C&T Publishing!!!!! It’s called Playful Precut Quilts. You can pre-order now! It officially comes out on August 25th!!

There are 15 quilt patterns that show off 12” blocks in an engaging variety of settings and sizes.

Since each block is 12″ you can mix and match in the different quilt settings.

Here are a few peeks of the quilts!

There is a fun variety of quilts in the book and since the quilts use precuts it’s easy to customize them to your own style.

I love to make seasonal quilts and there are many options to create seasonal quilts in the book.

Wherever you are on your quilt journey, these precut-friendly patterns make it a breeze to mix colors and prints. With designs that will appeal to every quilter, this book will quickly become your “go to” when you want to make a table runner for your friend’s birthday, a baby quilt for your newborn niece, or a throw for your parents’ anniversary.

I hope you LOVE this!!

When making any of the patterns be sure to tag me on Instagram @jedicraftgirl so I can see! Also use the tag #playfulprecutquilts on any photos you post!
