Blogger’s Quilt Festival Original Quilt Entry – Choose Happy

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I love The Blogger’s Quilt Festival!  And a big thanks to Amy for doing such an amazing job at putting this on!  It’s so fun to come together as quilters – everyone is so talented!  This is my entry in the Origional Quilt Category :  It’s called Choose Happy!  The fabrics are from Pat Sloan for Moda and scream HAPPY!!.  I actually designed this quilt with the intent of giving it as a gift.  My friend always uses the phrase Choose Happy.  Such great words to live by!  I wanted to incorporate that thought in this quilt so she could hang it in her home.
The quilt measures 30″x 40.5″
It has 16 pinwheel blocks surrounding the machine appliquéd “Choose Happy”.
It is machine quilted and hand bound
The pattern is actually available for free on the Therm O Web Blog 🙂  Just for you!!!IMG_5954
I love the pebble quilting around the words – some of the fabric actually has this same pattern!

This quilt was fun to put together – it’s a Disappearing 9-Patch.  I love the many variations on this quilt pattern and I love how the colors play together in this design.

The quilt measures 49″ x 62″

It’s machine quilted by me with an all over meander pattern.

The binding is hand-sewn.

This is how the block looks once the 9-Patch is cut up.  I love how making the center of the 9-Patch black, it makes the small black squares that pop in the quilt.  If you would like the exact pattern, click HERE.

It’s that time of year again, the Blogger’s Quilt Festival from Amy’s Creative Side!  I am entering my “Fall Friends” quilt in the “appliqué quilt” category.  I am so in love with this quilt that I just finished sewing today!  The woodland animal appliqué patterns are from Jennifer Heynen’s book “A Walk in the Woods“.  I came up with the design of the quilt – it’s a disappearing 9-Patch with sashing.  The fabric’s are also from Jennifer’s “A Walk in the Woods” fabric line.  I don’t know about you but I am in love with hedgehogs, squirrels, and foxes!!!

Totally Boy Crazy {Baby Quilt}

AmysCreativeSide
I am entering this Totally Boy Crazy quilt in the Blogger’s Quilt Festival in the baby quilt catagory.    If you are new to my blog, welcome!   I love so many things about this quilt – the scrappy-ness of it, the yellow submarine, and of course the fabric!  This is an original pattern I created for Riley Blake Designs using their “Boy Crazy” line of fabric.  The pattern can be found here.  It measures 41″ x 48″.
This quilt has piecing and appliqué.  I machine quilted the quilt on my Bernina.

Ella’s Fish Quilt

AmysCreativeSide
Hi, I am Ella!  My mom is Jedi Craft Girl.  Today I am writing a blog post about my fish quilt.  I am entering it in the Blogger’s Quilt Festival in the “Throw Quilt” Category.  Thanks for stopping by to look at my quilt.

I am 14 years old and I have been sewing since I was 8 years old.  I love fish!!  I just got back from Hawaii where I got to spend 2 weeks in the ocean.  I found this quilt pattern at the Long Beach Quilt Festival.  The pattern is called Huki Lau by Beyond the Reef.  I got to meet the designer, Natalie Barnes.  I loved this pattern because it uses tropical prints and batiks and the appliqué fish are actually outlines of real tropical fish!  The quilt measures 54″ x 70″.

I made patterns out of paper and hand cut each fish.

I used Spray n Bond to attach each fish to the background fabric.  Then I sewed around each fish.

I had my quilt professionally quilted.  I love how each fish is outlined by squiggles – it looks like real water!  This is my favorite quilt and I sleep with it every night.
