Merry and Bright Quilt Pattern

DSC_0695

I’m so happy to be releasing this pattern BEFORE Christmas!  I got home from Quilt Market in October and was completely inspired!  I had this idea to create a new Christmas quilt with lots of fun vintage colors.  I knew I wanted deer in the quilt.  I played around with some ideas and then created this!  I love that it is whimsical and vintage feeling.  It was fun to make a quilt with pinks, reds, greens, and aquas!  All my favorites!Merry and Bright Quilt Pattern PDF

The quilt measures 68″ x 77″ which means its a great throw quilt size!  I think I might hang mine 🙂

The pattern is a PDF download available in my Etsy shop.

The patterns is written in sections: the tree, the larges star, the deer blocks, the small sawtooth blocks, and the twirl star blocks.  This makes it easy to do a quilt along or work on sections.Merry and bright quilt pattern

The deer appliqué is done with Heat n Bond Lite and then a straight stitch around the deer.

The star blocks are fun because you can use fabrics from your stash and make it super scrappy!

The Merry and Bright letters I totally cheated!  It’s December after all – no time for tedious work!  I used Heat n Bond Ultra for the letters which is a little heavier and stiffer than the Lite.  Since the letters were thin I was willing to use the Ultra because that meant no sewing around each letter to secure!  The all over quilting helps the appliqué blend right into the quilt!  So if you’re afraid of letters don’t be!

I had the quilt quilted with an all over swirl and holly design and I’m super thrilled at how it turned out!!!  I love it so much!!

I love the cat print – the fabrics are from Riley Blake Designs.

Every month there is a new designer featuring a mystery quilt block.  We won’t know what the quilt looks like until the end of the year!

You can download the instructions for my block HERE,

Blue & Green Quilt Pattern

DSC_0578

Mufasa is ready to announce our latest quilt pattern!  He’s been keeping watch over it until it was ready!

DSC_0568

Meet Blue & Green!  My new favorite quilt!

DSC_0675

There is something about blue and green that makes my heart go pitter patter!  It’s so fresh and happy!!!!  And of course those Cotton + Steel theme print cats from their Beauty Shop line are to die for!

DSC_0561

This quilt measures 73″ x 85″ so it’s a generous size throw – but can easily be sized down by omitting blocks.  It’s available in my Etsy shop just click HERE!

DSC_0570

What I love about this quilt is it’s made with  2 colors which means it’s a perfect pattern for all the sports fans out there.  All you need is a theme print,  Color 1 and Color 2 and 2b!  Here are a few samples I created:
Screen Shot 2019-05-20 at 12.16.54 PM

You can even use the theme print square to appliqué a number, letter, or logo!

Here are the fabric requirements:

Fabric Requirements:

1 ¾ yards theme print fabric*

¾ yard green fabric (color 1)

15 navy blue fat eights (color 2)

15 medium blue fat eights (color 2b)

1 ¾ yard white fabric

⅔yard binding fabric

4 ½ yards backing fabric

*The outer border requires 1 ⅛ yards and the theme print block centers require ⅔ yard if you’d like different fabrics.

I personally think that Mufasa looks best on the blue & green!  It brings out his spots!

I hope you love this quilt as much as I do!!

Walk With Jesus 2019

walk with jesus 2019

This year we are condensing our 14 day walk with Jesus into a 7 days. Beginning today we are following along with Emily Belle Freeman and David Butler and focusing on a different eyewitness to the last week of Christ’s mortal life.  There is a 5 minute video (click here) that goes along with each daily lesson. As for my version of our Walk with Jesus, I have chosen to focus on music.  I feel close to Jesus through scripture, through the spoken word, but most of all through music.  Some of my most tender moments with the Savior have come as a result of listening to music.  Each day I am sharing a printable that you can print or post of a song lyric.  Also there will be a link to the song so you can listen to it!  I hope this adds a little meaning to your day this week as we prepare for Easter.

Walk With Jesus Index

Every Easter my family participates in a “14 Day Walk With Christ”.  This takes place the 2 weeks leading up to Easter.  I feel life is so busy and rushed and Easter can come and go before we know it.  It has been extremely meaningful to focus extra attention on the Savior during these two weeks.  Every day we have a lesson, activity, game, etc. about Jesus Christ.  We also write in our journals every day the things we have learned and felt.  I hope you are able to join along with us!  You can search through the past years to find printable or lessons.  Each year I change it up a little 🙂

Perfect Party Mini Quilt

DSC_0200

I’m super excited to be part of Penny Rose Fabrics Perfect Party Blog tour! This new fabric line is called Perfect Party and is designed Lindsay Wilkes.

DSC_0138

I love the vintage inspired motifs of this fabric – cats, bunnies, ducks, birds!! What’ s not to love!  I wish Sally was younger so I could make her the cutest dress in the world out of these fabrics!
IMG_1695

These fabrics just happen to match my vintagy kitchen and family room so I decided to sew a little mini quilt.  Of course I love the cats the most so I fussy cut a cat from the panel print.

DSC_0179

The cat is purrrrfect for the center of the star.  I used a block from my October Stars Quilt Pattern and then added a 3″ border.

DSC_0174

It’s so cheerful and springy!!!  This would also make a cut pillow!

DSC_0247

I have a little table that it will fit nicely on!

DSC_0222

Mufasa was not appreciating being left out of the picture, so he choose to sit front and center!  What a ham!!!

DSC_0132

I know you will love these adorable fabrics – I can’t wait to sew a few more items!

Dawn Patrol Beach Quilt Featuring Off Shore 2

dawn patrol quilt

I am a California girl, born and raised which means I love the beach!!!  I am so excited that Deena Rutter has a second version of her Off Shore surf fabric by Riley Blake Designs!  I love the vintage beach vibe of these fabrics and the casual color tones.  I designed this quilt as throw quilt that is perfect to take to the beach!

off shore 2 fabric

The fabrics have fun surf scenes, surf boards, VW busses, and plaids.  I designed this quilt to use with theme print fabrics which I am always drawn to.  I designed this quilt with the first Off Shore fabric line a few years ago. I love that these two quilts coordinate!

Some of the prints are similar to the first version of this fabric line and there are also several new prints!  You could easily mix them together!

Seriously the fabrics are so amazing!

The finished quilt measures 59″ x 68″ which is exactly the right width for a minky backing!beach quilt pattern

I can’t wait to get this quilted!  It’s going to be amazing!  I am so ready for summer!!!

off shore 2 riley blake

You need at least 10 fat quarters of theme prints, I suggest using about 15 for a nice variety.  The theme prints are also repeated in the pieced border.
